It is located on the spine near the heart and faces towards both, the front and back. This Chakra processes the energy in the aura and provides Vayutattva to the body. This element represents all movement in the natural world. Any movement in the body is possible of the air element. When Vayutattva flows smoothly through the Nadis, it provides nutrition, life force, impetus and complete health to muscles, nerves, cells, and various organs and parts of the body. Anahat Chakra is also known as the powerhouse of the body. A person whose Anahat Chakra functions efficiently is able to balance material and spiritual pursuits beautifully.
It is the Chakra of emotions and represented by green colour. Mobility is its subtle quality. The air element enables coordination of all other elements. Pran (life force) is derived from Vayutattva. There are Panchpranas operating in the body. The flow of energy known as Pran is active in the region of the chest. The flow of energy known as Apan is active below the navel in the region of the lower abdomen, while Saman is active in the region between the heart and navel. Udan is active in the region between the neck and the head, while Vyan pervades the entire body coordinating with other Pranas and strengthening them. Along with this, functions such as burping, hiccups, opening and closing of eyelids, thirst, hunger, coughing, sneezing, yawing, sleeping, movement, contraction and expansion happens due to this element. If the Anahat Chakra is weakened, the body experiences deficiency of Vayutattva. This can lead to problems such as inefficient heart, weakened lungs, physical and mental fatigue and dullness. If this Chakra becomes agitated, it can lead to Vaat (one of the three bodily tendencies) disorders, hyperactive heart, lung disorders, selfish nature and imaginary fears.
